Schneider Lab @ ULeth
Steph Schneider, PhD (sher/her)

Steph grew up in Edmonton, Alberta and obtained her BSc in Chemistry from the University of Alberta in 2017. She started her graduate studies the same year in Environmental Chemistry at the University of Toronto with Professor Jon Abbatt. During her PhD, she studied the chemistry at the ocean surface which releases volatile species into the atmosphere. This research was motivated by the NETCARE field campaign, and included field observations, sample collection, modelling, and laboratory science. She defended her PhD titled "Connecting the Atmosphere and the Ocean through Reactions at the Sea Surface Microlayer" in October 2022.
In 2023, she started her role at McMaster University as an NSERC postdoctoral fellow in the PARTICLES research group, led by Professor Sarah Styler. Her research at McMaster University focuses on the deposition of pollutants from wildfires on urban surfaces. In collaboration with the US EPA, she conducted a sampling campaign in spring 2023 during the prescribed burning season to measure how environmentally persistent free radicals, a wildfire pollutant, accumulates on surfaces.
